Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

Amidst the cooking, the cleaning, the overeating, the napping, the football, and the Friday shopping strategy session that surely mirrors Napoleon's camp the night before Waterloo, I need to remember that I have so much to be thankful for:

I am loved: I will go over my monthly cell-phone minutes due to Thanksgiving wishes being extended across the miles among family and friends.

I am rich: I will over eat tomorrow because there is too much food on the table.

I am safe: I will be semicomatose in front of the fireplace watching football the better part of the afternoon.

I can't ask for much more than that.

Happy Belated Fourth!

Well, this 4th of July wasn't quite as eventful for me as it has been in recent years, say spending it in DC in 2005, or watching the shuttle launch in Florida in 2006, but I did get the opportunity to rub some blisters on my feet and bask in the joy of hundreds of screaming children at a public park. That lasted about 20 minutes. Then, off to a bar at the top of a downtown hotel to watch fireworks over the lake out of a window. Much better.

Mind you, those were not my original plans, but the stars (or something) had other things in mind for me. This brings me to my thought for the day:

"Those who hold patience as their highest virtue do so because they have no others."
GK Chesterton

Cheers!

Fly Like an Eagle

I am now the understudy being called to duty for a press conference being held in Sacramento on Tuesday, the day the federal goverment has been ordered to remove all regulatory prohibitions on the use of private property because the Bald Eagle is no longer listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act.

I will post links to all news coverage here:

Here is some background to get you started:

Unfortunately, it looks as if Paris Hilton may be released from jail the same day and we all know that is far more important than man v. beast in the neverending battle to uphold private property rights.
